Visiting Woodcliff Lake
Woodcliff Lake offers a quiet Pascack Valley visit centered on its reservoir landscape, historic properties, county and borough recreation, commuter rail access and the Broadway/Tice/Chestnut Ridge business corridors. It is primarily a residential and business community rather than a traditional tourism town.
Visitor and lodging information reviewed September 2026.
What to see & do
The reservoir is the borough's defining landscape and a major drinking-water facility. Fishing is permit-controlled by the reservoir owner, and borough rules prohibit fishing from specified causeway and Pascack Road locations.
Bergen County's 118-acre park offers a pond, walking paths, playground, picnic areas, dog park, fishing and renovated tennis/pickleball facilities.
The borough's seasonal Old Mill Pool and surrounding recreation area are a major resident amenity. The 2026 pool season runs through September 7.
The historic house on Pascack Road and nearby borough historic resources reflect Woodcliff Lake's Dutch-American farming and mill history.
The station area gives visitors a compact neighborhood cluster with local food, services and access to the Pascack Valley Line.
Destination shopping, restaurants, healthcare, senior living and BMW's U.S. headquarters make the western commercial corridor an important part of modern Woodcliff Lake.
Lodging: important 2026 update

Visitor tips
- Reservoir access: do not assume shoreline access is public; fishing on Veolia watershed reservoirs is permit-controlled.
- Park rules: follow posted borough and county park rules, especially for group events, dogs, alcohol and amplified sound.
- Rail parking: Woodcliff Lake's station lot is permit-based, so visitors arriving by car should not assume day parking is available.
- Dining: the town's restaurants are spread among Broadway, Kinderkamack Road, Tice's Corner and Chestnut Ridge Road rather than one continuous downtown.
